2015 Photo Contest


As part of its 2015 congress, SEQ launches its annual competition under the theme "Arthropods of Canada". Photos submitted (maximum 3 per participant) must have been taken in Canada. It is not necessary to be a member of SEQ or the SEC to enter the contest.

Each high resolution picture (1500x1800 pixels minimum) must be submitted no later than September 30, 2015 at the following address: sarah.loboda@mail.mcgill.ca, indicating the name of the subject photographed, the place and date.

The photographs will be displayed during the SEQ-SEC conference in Montreal and a popular vote will lead to the election of the winners. By entering the Contest, you give permission to use your photos in the SEQ newsletter, website or other promotional materials. The winning photos will be used on the cover of the Antennae magazine. The contest organizer reserves the right to remove any picture judged out of context.

Drawing Contest: Draw us your favorite bug! The Entomological Society of Quebec (ESQ), like the Entomological Society of Canada (ESC) has as main objective to promote entomology research while disseminating this knowledge for the benefit and enjoyment of children and adults. The societies encourage passion by helping the formation of highly qualified graduate students and by providing awareness of the importance of insects to the public of all ages.

This year, Quebec and Canada entomological societies are jointly organizing their annual meeting in Montreal on the theme: "Entomology in the era of the Anthropocene." To mark this event, the ESQ / ESC wish to organize a drawing competition on the theme: Draw us your favorite bug! Children (or immediate family) members of the SEQ or the SEC are invited to participate and send their drawings with their name, age and the name of the family member who is a member of SEQ or SEC.

The contest has three age categories :
- Under 6 years
- Between 6 and 10 years
- More than 10 years

Finalists drawings selected on their originality will be displayed at the congress where members will vote to select the winner in each category. Each winner will receive a family ticket ( 2 adults and 3 children) to visit the Montreal Insectarium. Prizes will be awarded at the closing ceremony of the meeting on 10 November 2015. The awards will be mailed the week following the annual meeting if a family member of the winner is not present at the ceremony.
